LI Week 2

A four day week sure passes by quickly! It's week 2 already. I still haven't got my shoes!!! Aarghh..gotta remind my supervisor again and again... :( As usual, it was tiring sleeping 5 to 6 hours daily and no afternoon nap :p ... I spent the whole weekend sleeping in my comfy bed at home hehe...yea me lazy bum. Overall week 2 was a repeat of week 1 plus I finally got my hands on the machines. It's not too hard once you know how it works..bwahaha... I also started on a small experiment. Don't really think that the method used is very good but we'll see how it goes after a week.

What method? Well, I want something to be dry. The current method used is cleaning with IPA which doesn't seem to be very effective. I'm thinking of using calcium chloride. What do you think? I need feedback...are there any side reactions??? Do you have any other methods of keeping something dry???

Anyway, last week I spent some time talking with the operators and picked up a few things from them. Glad that they're very helpful =D

Reflection Week 2:
Gosh is this how my life would be in the future? Working 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. or later...Becoming sad when it's a 4 day workweek and 3 day weekend cause I can't finish my work. A workaholic's life... >.<

LI Week 1

Started industrial training (LI) last Monday! Woo-hooo!

Week 1 had been satisfying. I learnt new things everyday and was able to do some hands on work. I found my supervisor's job to be quite interesting but very hectic. On paper it's a 8 to 5 job. In reality, it's 8 till you get the job done even if it means getting less sleep or less time for yourself. It's hard to keep up sometimes. I now know how precious weekends are! Haha... In spite of all I've mentioned, the company that I'm working in has a very casual and relaxed environment. I like that a lot :)

From my observation throughout the past 4 days, the work is not directly related to what we have learned at university. The courses provide only fundamental understanding. Things like operating the machines, repairing the machines, making sure the production runs smoothly, design of experiments and inspecting defective samples requires self-study and experience. There was one subject that I took last semester that I found to be very useful - Quality Control & Management. I'm glad I took that subject before going for training.

Several updates on some rants I made previously...Firstly, I've got a new phone! Made my life much easier definitely. Secondly, regarding the hostel, everyone's safe and no problems of accommodation for the next semester. Thirdly, I didn't rant about this one, but yea we can finally move to the main campus' hostel.

For the past week, my friends and I have been driving all the way from Nibong Tebal to the island. We had to wake up early and by the time we reach back after work it's already 7 p.m. On the first day, we actually left the hostel at 5.30 a.m.!!! Zzzz...I know it's crazy but we didn't want to be late especially on the first day knowing that there will be heavy traffic on the Penang Bridge. We arrived at the company at 6.30 a.m. haha...We adjusted our timing. The past 2 days, we left at 6.30 a.m.. Reached there just in time for breakfast before work starts..hehe... I'm really thankful that Kah Huat was willing to drive us everyday. Well, next week onwards we can leave at 7 a.m. instead :) More time to sleep in!

Reflection Week 1:
1. I am considering joining this line of work.
2. R&D is not so bad afterall if it's something that I'm interested in.
3. If I do #1, I would have less time for myself....less Facebook-ing and less Mouse Hunting... O.o
4. I still have more than a year to rethink my options and resolve my addiction to FB and MH :D
5. I want to work in Ipoh.......................................................
