Calvin & Hobbes Twisted Christmas

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

It doesn't have to be as twisted as Calvin's Christmas but I hope everyone will have an enjoyable time this weekend. Sharing with you some of my favourite comic strips =D

Dad: You have to admit it's slowed down the traffic on our road.

Calvin: They're snowmen prophets of doom.
Mom: You certainly take the pleasure out of waiting for daffodils.

Dad: Calvin, I'm late for work!

Calvin: Mom and dad don't value hard work and originality as much as they say they do.

Hobbes: Why does he have a hot water bottle on his head?
Calvin: He's committing suicide.

Dad: No one else at the office talks about this kind of thing.

Calvin: See my snowman?
Calvin: He's enjoying a snow cone! There's nothing he likes better!
Hobbes: And the snowman with the ice cream scoop in his back?
Calvin: It's a sordid story.

Calvin: First she says go out. Now she says come in.

Calvin: You don't like my "Snowman House of Horror" do you?

Dad: Eggplant casserole tonight?
Mom: Why, yes!

Hobbes: Snow sharks?
Calvin: That guy's a goner.

Mom: On the other hand, the neighbors keep planting nice big trees next to us.

Dad: I think we'd better get that kid to a psychologist.

Opera Mobile 10 beta 2

I found that my Opera Mini wasn't working the other day. Well I had not been using it for a while. So I figured there's probably a newer version out and that's why it's not working. I checked out Opera's website and found something called Opera Mobile. Opera Mini was still available but what's this Opera Mobile???

Since they had a picture of my phone on their harm giving it a try then.

Downloaded. Installed. And I fell in love with it!

It looks just like my Opera on my laptop. Speed dial page and the best part? Tabbed browsing! Oh you heard me right. Tabs on my phone! Haha... I could only imagine that happening on my mobile phone a few months ago and to actually see it with my own eyes...unbelievable!

I love you, Opera. You guys rock my phone!

Apparently Opera Mini has a beta version 5 which has tab browsing too. Opera Mini works on almost any phone. Opera Mobile, on the other hand,  works for Windows Mobile and Nokia smartphones. Besides that, I don't really know what's the difference between the two. Shall stick to Opera Mobile for now. I've uninstalled my Opera Mini anyway hehe...

Note: All pictures in this post were from Opera Mobile 10 beta website.

Room To Let @ CariBilik

As a young adult, there are two things constantly on our minds. Firstly, higher education. Secondly, job hunting. Whichever a person chooses to pursue, they have one thing in common. And that is...

Location! Location! Location!

Unless you're lucky enough that you live near a college/university or the workplace, finding a place to stay is a common problem. Imagine living in Penang all your life and having to move to Sarawak to work. You'll have to rely on contacts in Sarawak to find a place for you to stay. But now there's an alternative especially for all tech-savvy young adults out there. Malaysia has her own room for rent website called CariBilik.

The website serves as a meeting point for those looking for a room to rent and those who wish to rent their rooms or are simply looking for a roommate to share the bill. Sure beats looking through the classifieds in the newspapers as the website is more organised. There are only two tabs on the page as rooms are categorised by location only. So finding a desired type of room may be a bit difficult. But then again, there's always the search function powered by Google to try out.

I'm quite amazed that the website has so many postings from Perlis all the way to Sabah. Yes, there are postings in all 13 states! However, I'm not sure if the postings are constantly updated and there may be many postings which are no longer relevant i.e. the rooms have been rented out already. By the way, this service is provided for free by Ocision which is also the holding company of PropWall. This explains the similar layout and concept. I'm a bit disappointed though that CariBilik does not have a place to pose questions regarding a location like that at PropWall.

Nevertheless, I like the concept and in about 7 months from now, I might just be using the website myself ;)

Malaysia Property Website - PropWall

How do you usually go around looking for a specific property? Most people get their information through the newspapers and property fairs. The thing about browsing through the newspapers is that you'll get black and white pictures or worse still, no pictures but just a contact number. As for fairs, you have tonnes of flyers at the end of the day and no time to sift through all of them.

In this internet age, you can find almost anything you want to buy and compare them easily with other similar products. The same goes with real estate. There are many property websites out there and one new Malaysia property website is this:

PropWall is a free luxury property resources website that focuses on properties located in Malaysia. It has a very organised and simple website. The best part - this website is free from the clusters of advertisements. No annoying pop-ups or bright blinking migraine inducing adverts.

The home page basically shows a snippet of the entire website and all it has to offer. I find navigating around the website absolutely hassle-free. There are only 4 main tabs - Properties, Classifieds, Photos and Answers.

The properties are categorized based on location (states and specific locations) and type (condominium, house, office, shop, factory). Each specific location e.g. 1 Desa Residence, Taman Desa has their own wikipage which can be edited to update or include more information. This means that you don't have to go searching another website to know more about a place. Besides, if you have any questions, you can post them at Answers and wait for a response from other users. Oh and did I mention the hoards of photos for you to feast your eyes on?

On the downside, since PropWall is relatively new, locations are limited. Currently, only four main locations (Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Penang and Selangor) are listed. But I believe that is only a small setback. As more people come to know of PropWall, the website will definitely expand to include all states in Malaysia.

For those interested in advertising your properties, check out the Advertisement Packages link at the bottom of the site.

By the way, don't you love it when everything is listed in Malaysian Ringgit? I for one love it :)

About 3 months ago, I blogged about A&W's Coney Dog Chicken advertisement and the fine print which says that minced beef sauce is used. So the Coney Dog Chicken is actually not 100% chicken. I also said that, "For some people like me who don't eat beef, I guess I shall just stick to drinking your root beer and eat elsewhere."

Oh what the heck!

I already had Texas cheese fries topped with chilli beef sauce. Well then here goes my first encounter with the Coney Dog.

With that said, I'm still not fully prepared to take on beef. So I ordered the Coney Dog Chicken instead. I can't stress enough that minced beef sauce is used because some people just don't take beef (mostly due to religious reasons).

Nice meeting you Coney Dog. You were absolutely succulent and delicious. Forget the beef sauce. You were worth it.

What's next? The McD Prosperity Burger??? I'm tempted....

I’m a Sherlock Holmes in the Making

Elementary, my dear Watson, elementary...or in this case, as Sherlock Holmes would put it...

"Elementary, my dear Nuffnang, elementary."

What's with the screenshots and the weird monologue, you ask?

Sherlock Holmes is coming to town this Christmas! I'm super excited especially with Nuffnang's Premiere Screening of Sherlock Holmes. Yes! That's right! Imagine watching Sherlock Holmes 2 days before it is released here in Malaysia! How awesome is that?

I followed the trails left by Nuffnang and found my pot of gold...

By the way, did you know that the famous quote I used at the beginning of this post does not appear in Arthur Conan Doyle's books? Guess I'll leave it to you to do some mystery hunting yourself ;)
